Before you go
- Both starred rooms are dark Sunday and Monday. Patio and Pelagos serve 7:00–10:30pm only, five nights a week. They are structurally occasion restaurants — neither can ever be the default. Book Pelagos weeks ahead.
- Tasting menus need allergen notice at booking, not on arrival. Confirmed: no restrictions for either diner. If that ever changes, tell them when you reserve.
- Greek meal times. Lunch runs 1:00–4:00pm, dinner rarely before 9:00pm. The magirio at O Charis is lunch-only and closes at 5:15pm sharp.
- The 500-review floor was lowered to 150 for this guide. A resident can afford a miss; a tourist with three dinners cannot. Three of the best finds here have under 300 reviews.
- Everything is tappable → opens in Google Maps, with Directions and Call on each card.

The Nine
Ranked by evidence, then corrected for what a rating can't measureHow these were chosen
- Raw stars are bad evidence alone. 4.7 across 205 reviews is not the same claim as 4.7 across 4,914. Every rating below was pulled toward the dataset mean (4.494) in proportion to how thin its sample is: score = (v/(v+500))·R + (500/(v+500))·4.494.
- Delta finished 20th. Patio finished 18th. Greece's only two-star restaurant and its Green Star neighbour both rank below a grill taverna in Varkiza. Both remain in the full guide below, stars intact.
- Ratings measure satisfaction against expectation, not quality. A €40 Cretan taverna clears its bar more easily than a €200 tasting menu clears its own. This correction fixes sample size. It does not fix that.
- Two entries here beat their score. Garbi and Ο ΧΑΡΗΣ are kept on function, not rank — one is the only room open twelve hours a day, the other the only magirio. Usefulness isn't in the arithmetic.
- Three entries have thin review counts. Each carries a second, independent signal — a Michelin star, its own website, or local editorial coverage — stated on the card. Review volume measures footfall, not quality: a hard 500-review floor deletes both of Vouliagmeni's starred restaurants and promotes a waffle shop into the top nine.
